Ladislaus III.
Ladislaus III. , called the child , (* 1199 or 1201; † May 7, 1205 in Vienna ) was king of Hungary and Croatia from 1204 . He belonged to the Árpáden dynasty . He was the son of King Emmeric of Hungary and his wife Constance of Aragón .
His father Emmerich had him crowned on August 26, 1204 when he was only three (or five) years old in order to secure the line of succession. Emmerich died shortly afterwards, but before that he made his brother, Andreas, swear that he would support Ladislaus in everything. After Emmerich's death, Andreas took over all power and made the life of Ladislaus and his mother unbearable. The two fled to Vienna to see Duke Leopold VI. , which Andreas disapproved of and whereupon he threatened war. Before this war could break out, the child Ladislaus died without his being able to play a role in the history of Hungary.
Ladislaus III. was buried in Székesfehérvár .
