Lady & Bird is the name of a studio album that was created in 2003 as a collaboration between the French singer and songwriter Keren Ann and Barði Jóhannsson , the front man of the Icelandic band Bang Gang , in Paris, Brussels and Reykjavík in joint sessions . In June 2006 the album was released in the United States under Ann's own label "Yellow Tangerine" .

Two of the ten songs are cover versions . Stephanie Says is originally from The Velvet Underground . The song Suicide Is Painless is the cover version of the title song of the M * A * S * H ​​television series or the movie of the same name .

The songs of the concept album, folk- influenced pop ballads sung in English , tell the story of Lady and Bird, two fictional children who, trapped in the bodies of adults, cannot cope with the world of adults, feel lonely and lost and their environment despair. The style moves between psychedelic sound and ballads.

The name Lady & Bird is related to the lyrics in Shepard's Song , but also to the duo Ann / Jóhannson themselves, who released another album under this name in 2009. The new album is called, analogous to the 10th track by Lady & Bird , La Ballade of Lady and Bird
