Lady is a 1980 song by Kenny Rogers written and produced by Lionel Richie .

history

Lady was recorded in 1980 and is one of Roger's most successful hits, in an interview he said: "The idea was that Lionel would come from R&B and I'd come from country, and we'd meet somewhere in pop." (German: The highlight was that Lionel Richie with his R&B influences and I with my country style meet with the music genre Pop .)

The song was Richie's first production outside of the Commodores and also a success as a songwriter, in 1985 Rogers also participated in the recording of the USA for Africa classic We Are the World . It was released on September 29, 1980. Richie sang the song himself for his album Time (1998), and Richie's tenth studio album Tuskegee (2012) contained a duet version of the song sung with Rogers.
