Lafaga (also: Lafanga ) is a motu in the reef edge of the Nukufetau atoll in the island state of Tuvalu .
geography
Lafaga forms the north-east corner of the atoll. It is the largest of the eastern islands in the atoll. There is a larger coconut plantation on the island. The reef fringes continue to the south with the Congo Loto Lafanga , while the islands of Oua and Niuatui connect to the northwest .
mythology
Legends tell that Fialua , an Aliki (chief), was sent to Lafanga to defend the islands against invaders from Tonga . Fialua attacked the robbers with his club and buried the bodies in a place called the Temata .
