history

The Roughnecks were founded in 2000 and started in af2 in the 2001 season. The coach was longtime New Orleans Saints running back Buford Jordan .

The first game in franchise history was won by the Roughnecks at home against the Rochester Brigade 71:46 in front of 3,725 spectators. At the end of the season there were 3 wins and 13 losses and the penultimate place in the South Central Division.

After only one season, the team was disbanded.
