The Cajundome is a multifunctional arena in the US city ​​of Lafayette in the southern state of Louisiana . The building opened in 1985 and is mainly used for college sports and professional ice hockey. Depending on the configuration, it offers space for 4,500 to 13,500 visitors.

History and use

At the end of 2005, the dome served as emergency shelter for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita for 58 days . A total of 18,500 people were accommodated there over time. Medical care took place in the congress center.

The hall received a new basketball field for the 2007/08 season. For the following season the scoreboard and the sound system were renewed.
