Location Opedal
Lage Opedal (* 1976 in Haugesund ) is a Norwegian painter .
Life
Lage Opedal graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo in 2000. In the same year he enrolled at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts as a visiting student. Since 2002 he has been working as a master student with Professor Ralf Kerbach .

Opedal's pictures are superficially reminiscent of classic still lifes or landscapes. Opedal sees them in the tradition of old masters as well as the photo-realistic painting of the modern age . Various accumulations seem to have been transferred into the picture as a section from use and composed without a strict principle of order. The subjectivity of this supposed reality is revealed through the choice of a certain image section. Packaging residues and waste mix with the traditional picture objects and experience an artistic enhancement through the painting process. Crumpled pieces of foil next to avocado fruit or litchi bowls - with an ironic wink, genre boundaries are broken here. The discrepancy between photo-realistic image and image content is a deliberately used stylistic device, the confusion of the viewer is intended. Increased to the monumental with a strong presence, the excerpts point beyond their actual picture objects, they rather give cause to question the possibly coincidental or even staged depiction of reality.
