Storage period

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The storage period denotes the retention period for shipments from transport companies such as Deutsche Post and DHL for shipment delivery. The storage period is basically 7 working days.

At Deutsche Post and DHL , the weekdays Monday to Saturday count as working days for the calculation of the 7-day storage period for mail and parcels . Public holidays and Sundays are not included in the calculation of the deadline. The period begins on the working day following the attempted first delivery.

The commissioning of a second delivery does not lead to an extension of the deadline. The date of a second delivery must also be in the 7-day window of the original shipment notification.

A distinction must be made between the mail run and the storage period , which denotes the length of time that a mail item needs from the point of posting to the recipient.
