Ulf Schefvert (born April 18, 1957 in Sandviken , Sweden ) is a Swedish handball trainer and former handball player .
Career
Schefvert played in the Elitserien from 1974 to 1984 for HK Drott , with whom he won four championships. In the 1984/85 season he took over the coaching post from Bengt Johansson . After Johansson returned after this season, Schefvert became player- coach at Tyresö HF . In 1988 he followed the new Swedish national coach again as coach of Drott and won two more championship titles. In 1993 he became the national coach of Denmark, but only achieved disappointing placements. At the 1995 World Championships he finished 19th and at the 1996 European Championships twelfth place. Things went better with the Danish juniors, with whom he won the European championship (1996) and world championship titles (1997) during this time. He then moved to the coaching bench of GF Kroppskultur in Sweden, which he looked after for three years. For the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the Greek Association was looking for an experienced coach for the otherwise second-rate Greek men's handball team . There Schefvert achieved a good sixth place with the Hellenes. After he again reached sixth place at the 2005 World Cup, he handed over the office to Goran Perkovac and became national coach of the Swedish women . With the women's selection, he was able to achieve sixth and eighth place at the European Championships in 2006 and 2008. At the 2008 Olympic Games he was eighth again. From 2007 he coached the Danish club GOG Gudme parallel to the national team . In February 2010 he signed with the German Bundesliga club GWD Minden , but could not prevent relegation. In the 2011/12 season he was promoted back to the House of Lords. In March 2013 he was released from Minden and replaced by Sead Hasanefendić . Only a week after his release, he looked after Minden's second team. From 2013 he was a coach at the Swedish club HIF Karlskrona. Under his leadership, the club rose to the elite series in 2015. He was released in March 2017. For the 2017/18 season he took over the women's team from Kristianstad HK .
