Lake Palü

The Lago Palü ( Lagh da Palü , dt. Palüsee ) is a lake in the Swiss canton of Graubünden at the foot of the Piz Palü .

The palü lake is mostly from the Palü glacier fed and therefore also the milky color of the water. After a dam was built in 1926, it is used as a daily storage facility for the Palü power plant . In 1993-94 the heavily silted lake was dredged and a gravel trap was created to protect the reservoir from natural debris (stones and sand). The sediment is transported on with the Cavagliasco mountain stream .
