The Palü power plant is a storage power plant in Switzerland . It is located in the canton of Graubünden in the valley Puschlav , on the southern side of the Bernina Pass on the territory of the municipality Poschiavo . The plant is owned by the energy supplier Repower .
history
After the two dams on Lago Bianco had been built between 1910 and 1911 , the water initially flowed from the south wall through the natural stream to the Robbia power station in the valley floor . However, a good 500 m gradient remained unused until the two power plant stages Palü and Cavaglia were completed in 1927 . Since then, the water has been fed to the Palü power plant 280 m below via tunnels and penstocks . The palü lake serves with a net capacity of around 150,000 cubic meters a day storage.
technology
The Pelton and Francis turbines at an altitude of 1954 m above sea level. M. located systems together have an installed capacity of 10 MW . With a fall height of 238 meters, 12.1 GWh of electricity are produced annually.
The guided tours through the Palü and Cavaglia power plants, which Repower has offered regularly since 2002, also include a ride on the tunnel railway. It is an 800-meter-long funicular railway that connects the two power plants. It has a track width of 600 mm and manages a height difference of 248 meters with a maximum gradient of 71%.
