The Cavaglia power plant is a storage power plant in Switzerland . It is located in the canton of Graubünden in the valley Puschlav , in the municipality of Poschiavo located Cavaglia level on the south side of the Bernina Pass . The plant is owned by the energy supplier Repower .
The Pelton turbine at an altitude of 1706 m above sea level. M. located plant has an installed capacity of 7 MW . With a fall height of 216 meters, 18.8 GWh of electricity are produced annually. The power plant, completed in 1927, is via a pressure pipeline from 1923 m above sea level. M. high-altitude Lago Palü , where the runoff from the Palü power plant and the surface water on the eastern flank of Piz Palü collect. After the water has done its work in the Cavaglia stage, it is fed to the Robbia power station .
The tours through the Palü and Cavaglia power stations, which Repower has been offering regularly since 2002, also include a ride on the tunnel railway. It is an 800-meter-long funicular railway that connects the two power plants. It has a track width of 600 mm and manages a height difference of 248 meters with a maximum gradient of 71%.
