The Lago Pozzillo is the largest reservoir in Sicily . It is fed by the Salso river , a tributary of the Simeto , which should not be confused with the Salso river of the same name .
Lago Pozzillo is located near the village of Regalbuto in the Enna community consortium in the interior of the island. It is about 4 km long, at its widest point 1.8 km wide and has a capacity of about 150 million m³.
The dam was completed in 1959. The water from the reservoir is partly used for irrigation in agriculture and partly for electricity generation.
