The Laguna del Diamante is a lake in the Argentine province of Mendoza , near the border with Chile's western neighbor .

location

The lake is located in the Argentine Andes and is surrounded by mountains with a height of more than 5000 meters. Due to this location, the lake is very difficult to reach. The lake can be reached by car from Mendoza between December and March, and the ride on bumpy terrain takes about four hours. In the immediate vicinity of the lake is the 5264 m high Maipo volcano .

Surname

The reflection of the Maipo volcano in the crystal clear water of the lake gave it the name of the Laguna del Diamante, as the mountains look like diamonds in the water. The lake is part of a nature reserve of the same name.
