Laila Riksaasen Dahl

Laila Riksaasen Dahl (born March 7, 1947 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian Lutheran theologian and emeritus bishop of the Norwegian Church .

Dahl studied at the University of Oslo and graduated in 1970. She worked as a teacher of mathematics, chemistry and religious studies. In 1984 she became a teacher at the Theological College ( Menighetsfakultetet ) in Oslo. There she began an extended degree in theology in 1986, which she completed in 1990. From 1990 to 1995 she worked as an assistant ( amanuensis ) in the field of Christian education. Between 1995 and 2002 she worked first as a vicar and then as a pastor in Nittedal .

Dahl was appointed bishop of the Tunsberg diocese in 2002 and was consecrated on February 9, 2003. She was only the second woman in the episcopate in Norway . She retired in the summer of 2014. Her successor Per Arne Dahl is not related to her.
