George Fritz (born July 8, 1959 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a former German- Canadian ice hockey player . He was active as a striker at Schwenninger ERC , Mannheimer ERC and the German national ice hockey team .

Career

Fritz began his career with the Victoria Cougars in the Western Hockey League , but moved to Germany as a 20-year-old young professional. Due to his German ancestors, as a German ice hockey player he did not occupy a place for foreigners and contracted to the Cologne EC , which played in the ice hockey Bundesliga . In his first year he was able to achieve 54 scorer points in 48 games . After two years he joined the EC Bad Nauheim , where he scored 53 points in 29 games. In the same year he switched to Schwenninger ERC due to financial problems in Bad Nauheim . In Schwenningen he matured into an absolute leading player and top scorer and remained loyal to the team from the Black Forest for years. From 1990 to 1993 he played for three years for the Mannheim ERC . However, his performance as a scorer declined noticeably. In 1993 he returned to Schwenningen and ended his career there in 1996. He played in Schwenningen for a total of twelve years.

Fritz took part in the 1986 ice hockey world championship for the German national team and scored two goals.
