The Lake Alexandrina is a lake in the region Canterbury on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The Lake Alexandrina is located about one kilometer west parallel to Lake Tekapo in the Mackenzie District of the Region Canterbury . The lake is around 7 km long and between 0.5 and 1.3 km wide. The lake, which is described as cold, is fed by a few small brooks that carry their water from the west and north. The outflow of the lake is on its east side halfway along the lake and leads over a small 650 m long stream into the east adjoining Lake McGregor . This releases the water via an equally small stream 1250 m further east to Lake Tekapo . In the northern third of the lake there is a small, 80 x 100 m wooded island.
description
Seen from the air, the lake has a deep blue color when the sun is shining and is thus differentiated from the turquoise Lake Tekapo , which lies to the east . Its banks are lined with a narrow band of trees and bushes. At the southern end of the lake there is a small settlement with jetties, from where the lake can be accessed by boats. Another small settlement is located directly to the north of its outlet.

The lake is suitable for fishing brown trout and rainbow trout , which can be one to two kilograms in size.
