The Lake Alta is a Karsee in The Remarkables in Queenstown in the region Otago on the South Island of New Zealand .
The lake is located at an altitude of around 1,800 m, is around 500 m long and 25 m wide and is covered with an approximately 1 m thick ice sheet in winter. Then it is used by skiers and snowboarders. At times it is also used for ice diving and an annual meeting of ice divers is organized here by the Cromwell Diving Club.
