The Lake Dora is a flat, seasonal salt lake in Western Australia . It lies between the Great Sand Desert and the Gibson Desert in the eastern, deserted area of the Pilbara region . The closest Aboriginal settlement, Punmu , is to the east near the lake. Further to the northwest is the Telfer Mine .
The 120 km long Rudall River occasionally brings water to the lake. The lake fills up especially after heavy rains and is part of the Karlamilyi National Park . The average annual rainfall is 546 millimeters. The rainiest month is January with an average of 186 mm of precipitation and the driest is August with 1 mm of precipitation.
