The Lake Kaniere is a lake in the region West Coast on the South Island of New Zealand . It is located 30 kilometers southeast of Hokitika and flows over the Kaniere and Hokitika Rivers into the Tasman Sea .
With an area of 22 km², the second largest lake in the West Coast region after Lake Brunner . There is a small hydroelectric power station on Lake Kaniere near the outflow of the lake.
The lake is used for recreational activities such as water sports and picnics.
