Lake Las Vegas refers to both an artificial lake in Henderson , Nevada and the resorts / resorts around it, including the Aston MonteLago Village Resort, the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and the Hilton Lake Las Vegas. The history of Lake Las Vegas is marked by bankruptcies, legal conflicts, evidence of corruption and setbacks. Accordingly, the Fiscal Times described the place in 2011 as the “worst place to retire” in the USA. Still, the luxury resort lots have attracted a variety of Las Vegas-connected wealthy individuals, including Celine Dion . The dam on the lake was completed in 1991.

history

The Lake Adair company developed the idea for the Lake Las Vegas construction project around 1967 and acquired the corresponding land and water rights at that time, but went bankrupt relatively quickly. In 1990, Transcontinental Properties acquired the project, which Henry Gluck, once a casino operator, developed together with two billionaires in 1995.

The lake was created over the Las Vegas Wash, a canal that carries water from Las Vegas into Lake Mead , and filled from 1990. Las Vegas Joint Venture, LLC declared bankruptcy in July 2008. A lawsuit was brought against the developer consortium on account of criminal business conduct (“loan to own”).
