The Lake Lyell is a dam south-west of Lithgow in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales on the eastern slopes of the Great Dividing Range . The lake is fed by the Coxs River and is used to generate energy for the greater Sydney area by Delta Electricity .

The lake is accessible via the Old Bowenfels to Tarana road, which passes on its south side. A dead end road leads from here to the campsite on the east bank. From the west, Lake Lyell is accessible from Rydal via a cul-de-sac . Mount Walker is to the northeast, towards Lithgow .
