Lake Tiak-O 'Khata is a small man-made lake in Winston County , Mississippi , United States . Most of it is in the City of Louisville area , but in a wooded area southwest of downtown. The reservoir measures approximately 750 m by 400 m.
The lake is on the land of the Smyth family, who owned a plantation here before the Civil War . In 1954 the family decided to build a fishing lake. For this purpose, a 180 m long dam was built to dam various small streams. A holiday complex was built around the lake in the following decades.
The name of Lake Tiak-O 'Khata comes from the Choctaw language . Translated, it means "lake of pines" .
