Zabriskie Point
The Zabriskie Point is a viewpoint in the area of the mountain range of the Amargosa Range in Death Valley National Park , known for its bizarre erosion landscapes around the former Lake Manly is known. It was named at the beginning of the 20th century after Christian Brevoort Zabriskie of Wyoming , the vice president and general manager of the Pacific Coast Borax Company, which was responsible for borax mining in the area.
The rock formations you can see from this point are the sediments of what was formerly Furnace Creek Lake, which dried out five million years ago.
Trivia
The viewpoint and the landscape in front of it were made famous by Michelangelo Antonioni's 1970 film Zabriskie Point , which features music by the British band Pink Floyd . The photo of the album The Joshua Tree by Irish band U2 was also taken here.
