George Hadley
George Hadley (born February 12, 1685 in London , † June 28, 1768 in Flitton , Bedfordshire ) was an English lawyer who occupied himself with physics and meteorology in his spare time .

George Hadley was elected to the Royal Society in February 1735 and was the first to publish a correct theory about Passat circulation in May of the same year, a hundred years before Gaspard Gustave de Coriolis : the Hadley cell named after him is the cause of the Passat . The article was published in German under the name “Regarding the cause of the general trade winds”.
In collaboration with three brothers, the astronomer John , Georges and the younger Henry , the first high-quality Newtonian telescope was created in 1721 and the forerunner of the sextant , the Hadley Quadrant, in 1731 . Both inventions are attributed to John Hadley (1682–1744).
