Lala Rup Chand

Lala Rup Chand (born June 15, 1900 in Lahore , † 1966 ) was an Indian lawyer and diplomat.

Lala Rup Chand was a son of Rao Bahadur Ram Saran Dass, Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire (born November 26, 1876) one of the wealthiest men in Punjab .

His Hindu family had made a fortune in Lahore separating seeds from cotton . He studied law and practiced the profession of barrister . He was an avid pilot since his early youth and flew in the German Empire and Great Britain. From 1934 to 1939 he was secretary of the Flying Club in Lahore. On April 26, 1938, he became the owner of a Percival Vega Gull .

From 1939 to 1943 he was employed by the Royal Indian Air Force . On September 20, 1947 he was made honorary wing commander . From January 1946 to August 1948 he represented the Punjab in the Rajya Sabha .

From April 24, 1948 to 1952 he was ambassador to Kabul .
