Lalita Gupte

Lalita D. Gupte (* 1948 ) is an Indian manager. Until 2006 she was a managing director on the board of ICICI Bank , the largest private bank in India, and is regarded as an outstanding figure in Indian banking.

Career

Lalita Gupte studied at the Institut européen d'administration des affaires , one of the world's most renowned business schools . After her time at the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai , she began her career as a trainee at ICICI Bank (then ICICI Ltd). She held various positions and departments and was awarded a significant share in the bank's successful IPO on the New York Stock Exchange (ICICI was the first Indian company to be listed on the NYSE). In 2001 Lalita Gupte was promoted to the board of directors as Joint Managing Director and was in this position until the end of October 2006. Gupte is currently Chairperson of the Board ICICI Venture , as well as a member of the supervisory board at Nokia and since 2010 a member of the board of directors at Alstom .

Lalita Gupte has two children, lives in Mumbai , received the Women of the Year Award from the International Women's' Association in 2002 and has held seminars at leading educational institutions, including a. at Harvard University . The Forbes magazine counted Lalita Gupte to the "100 Most Powerful Women" , the business magazine Fortune to the "50 Most Powerful Women in International Business" .
