Lalou Bize-Leroy

Lalou Bize-Leroy (* 1932 in Paris as Marcelle Leroy), a French winemaker , was co-owner of the most famous winery in Burgundy , the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti , and has been an active partner since 1974 as a representative of the Leroy family with her partner , Aubert de Villaine from the de Villaine family who owns it.

Together with de Villaine, Bize-Leroy worked to ensure that the wines from the Romanée-Conti vineyards, but also from other Grand Cru locations, are among the most sought-after and most expensive wines in the world.

After a series of disputes and disputes, Bize-Leroy left as a co-owner and active winemaker. Bize-Leroy's dissatisfaction with de Villaine's participation in a tasting became known among other reasons. The aim of this tasting, known as the “ Paris Wine Jury ”, was to evaluate the classic French wines against the emerging high-class Californian wines. This conflict led them to withdraw from the shareholders of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. She acquired the Domaine Charles Nöellat which is now run under the name Domaine Leroy . Bize-Leroy wines are now valued very highly in terms of quality and belong to the top class in Burgundy.

She was married to Marcel Bize.
