Lambert of Ardres

Lambert von Ardres (* around 1160, † 1227 ) was a French chronicler of the 12th century. He was pastor in Ardres, not far from Calais, and is the author of a courtly chronicle that is one of the most decorated in northern France.

This chronicle, the Historia comitum Ghisnensium , tells the story of the Counts of Guînes and Lords of Ardres. It also contains sagas and courtly traditions. He began writing them between 1194 and 1198 and completed them in 1203. The work was first published in 1855 under the title Chronique de Guines et d'Ardre by Denis-Charles Godefroy-Ménilglaise .
