The Lan is a left tributary of the Pripyat located in the Breszkaya and Minskaya Woblasz .

The river has a total length of 147 kilometers and the catchment area extends over an area of ​​2190 square kilometers. At the mouth, the river carries an average amount of water of 11.3 cubic meters per second, the source of the river is located near the Kapylskaja hrada ridge , which is located in the south of the Belarusian ridge .

It flows through the historical landscape of Polesia in a river bed that has been completely straightened or canalized from the village of Staroselie (and only in parts upstream). The width of the river in the upper reaches is 4 to 8 meters, at the mouth it is up to 20 meters wide. The floodplain landscapes surrounding it are 600 to 1000 meters wide. The banks are partly peaty, partly sandy and consist in places of a 1 to 2 meter wide strip of sandy loam.

The valley of the river has a width of 1 to 1.5 kilometers, is covered by mixed forests and penetrated by swamps. A network of small streams and canals runs through the area.

The town of Klezk (Belarus: Клецк ) is located on the upper reaches of the river, in the Pripyaz National Park the Lan flows into the Pripyat .
