Lancelot of Brederode
Lancelot van Brederode († July 20, 1573 in Schoten ) was a vice admiral of the Wassergeusen and a captain in the army of Ludwig von Nassau-Dillenburg .
Lancelot was an illegitimate son of Reinoud III. van Brederode and Anna Simonsdaughter. The "Große Geuse", Count Heinrich von Brederode, was his half-brother. Van Brederode fled Holland in 1567 to serve under Ludwig von Nassau. Van Brederode led the defense of the city of Haarlem , which was surrounded by Spanish troops. After the handover of Haarlem to the Spaniards, Lancelot van Brederode was beheaded .
Lancelot van Brederode was married to Adriana van Blois van Treslong and the father of Reinoud van Brederode .
