The Land of (the) Yankee Fork State Park is a state park near Challis in Custer County in the US state of Idaho . The park explains the history of this region, most notably gold mining around the Yankee Fork Salmon River . The state park includes
- the visitor center with the Challis Bison Kill Site , a historical site of several killed bison , at Challis
- several small areas in Bayhorse
The park was established in 1990 and operated jointly by the state administration and the United States Forest Service .
The Land of the Yankee Fork Historic Area comprises the former mining region between Challis and Stanley , bordered by the Salmon and Yankee Fork Rivers.
