The State Working Group Oncological Supply Brandenburg eV (LAGO) is the oncological network of the State of Brandenburg . LAGO was founded in 1993 on the initiative of Health Minister Regine Hildebrandt and aims to continuously improve oncological care in Brandenburg. In addition, LAGO promotes cooperation and the exchange of information and experience between all institutions, professional groups , self-help organizations and volunteers involved in oncological care . The LAGO receives nationwide attention because it is unique as an organization in Germany. With it, the important players in oncological care at the state level have given themselves a platform for pioneering cooperation.

The focus of activities is on the networking of all professional groups involved in oncological care, the coordination of nationwide activities in the field of oncology as well as on the steering of measures agreed together with its member organizations. LAGO initiates and coordinates regional training courses for oncological staff and develops supportive information for professional helpers and those affected by cancer .

Member organizations

Members are legal entities under public and private law , associations, societies, associations, clubs, working groups and self-help groups in Brandenburg who are committed to the purposes of the association. Natural persons are only accepted as full members in exceptional cases.

Working groups

Part of the content-related and technical work takes place in specialist working groups that are organized and coordinated by the office. Representatives of the board, member organizations and external experts are involved in the working groups. The engagement is voluntary.

  • The Brandenburg campaign against colon cancer is controlled and coordinated at the level of the Brandenburg Ministry for the Environment, Health and Consumer Protection. As the sponsor of the campaign, LAGO is a member of this steering committee and implements the activities decided there.
  • The working group on psycho- oncological care is committed to improving the holistic care of oncological patients. It generates valuable knowledge and serves as a platform for the exchange of experiences and as a place for project development.
  • The working group on palliative and hospice care initiates measures that promote a better understanding of the care needs of seriously ill and dying cancer patients. In addition, he coordinates the measures from the palliative networks in Brandenburg, which are supported by LAGO .
  • The Oncological Care Working Group provides impetus to improve oncological care. In it, for example, the LAGO seal was developed as a nationwide unique pilot project for quality assurance in outpatient oncological nursing.
  • The Oncological Rehabilitation Working Group sees itself as a common platform and ideas workshop of the Brandenburg rehabilitation clinics for the promotion of oncological rehabilitation in Brandenburg.
  • The PIKS working group controls the PIKS health initiative, which is carried out at schools in Brandenburg. During project days, young people between the ages of 12 and 17 are informed about the topics of puberty, vaccination, sexuality and cancer prevention.

Brandenburg Cancer Congress

Since 2009, the association has been organizing joint Brandenburg Cancer Congresses in cooperation with the Brandenburg Tumor Center. So far, three congresses have taken place in Potsdam in 2009, 2011 and 2013. The aim of the Brandenburg Cancer Congress is the subject-related further development of the cooperation as well as the promotion of the exchange of experience between all institutions and doctors in Brandenburg involved in oncological care.

Advanced training

LAGO offers advanced training courses on various topics for oncological specialists. These currently include the additional qualification in psychosocial oncological care - competence in a team, oncological care afternoons and the annual Potsdam Hospice Day, which is organized in cooperation with the Potsdam hospice and palliative counseling service.

LAGO seal

The LAGO seal is a seal of quality for oncological nursing . It is based on an elaborate test procedure for quality assurance that includes palliative nursing care . The criteria for the seal were developed in cooperation with the German Society for Palliative Medicine and the Academy for Palliative Care in the State of Brandenburg. The LAGO seal is awarded throughout Germany.
