Regional association of adult education centers in North Rhine-Westphalia

The State Association of Adult Education Centers of NRW e. V. ( VHS NRW ) is the largest of 16 regional associations in the Federal Republic of Germany. It is also the largest state organization for further education in North Rhine-Westphalia . Since it was founded in 1947, it has represented the educational and financial interests of 130 community-sponsored adult education centers as well as two other institutions.

The regional association has its seat in Düsseldorf . The office of the regional association offers services and support for its member institutions, in particular in the areas of further training, certificate examinations, concept development, advice, public relations and internal association communication. Its work is mainly financed by membership fees from the municipalities and grants from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The most important association bodies are the Executive Board, the Board of Directors, the Organizational and Finance Committee and the Committee for Further Education. In addition, there are the working groups of VHS directors in the five government districts as well as commissions and working groups.

Like the other 15 regional associations of adult education centers in Germany, it is a member of the German Adult Education Association (DVV) based in Bonn .
