Nationwide information and documentation center for anti-Semitism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The state-wide information and documentation center for anti-Semitism ( LIDA ) is an independent reporting center for anti-Semitism in Schleswig-Holstein based in Kiel . It documents anti-Semitic incidents in this federal state and evaluates them in a structured manner. It was launched in September 2018 and started working in full on January 1, 2019.

aims

LIDA registers physical attacks, threats, damage to property, graffiti, insults, hateful comments and e-mails as well as propaganda material such as inflammatory pamphlets, leaflets, posters or stickers, which are classified into five different manifestations of anti-Semitism:

  • anti-Semitic othering
  • Israel-related anti-Semitism
  • Post-Shoah anti-Semitism
  • modern anti-Semitism and
  • anti-Judaist anti-Semitism.

Incidents that have not (yet) been reported to the police or do not constitute a criminal offense are also recorded. The aim is to make the phenomenon of anti-Semitism in Schleswig-Holstein more visible through targeted public relations work. Awareness-raising processes for anti-Semitism in society are to be promoted with lectures and workshops. The collected data form the empirical basis for a perspective development of tailor-made prevention, education and intervention measures.

Results 2019

Between January and October 2019, 51 cases were documented and evaluated in a brochure. The data come from the Jewish communities in Flensburg, Kiel, Lübeck, Ahrensburg-Stormarn, Bad Segeberg, Elmshorn and Pinneberg.
