Thomas Gerhard Ring

Thomas Gerhard Ring (born  July 7, 1936 in Budakeszi ; † July 27, 2009 ) was a German theologian with a focus on Augustine research.

Live and act

After the Danube Swabians were driven out , he first came to Herbolzheim and from 1951 attended the grammar school in Münnerstadt, which was run by the Augustinian order . He entered the order and in 1957 took the simple and three years later the solemn religious vows . He studied theology at the Würzburg University . He was ordained a priest in 1963 , having been ordained a deacon the previous year . In 1972 he received his doctorate with " Summa cum laude" . Then he headed the seminary of the Augustinians in Würzburg. Later he devoted himself again to research on Augustine and he was released from the order.
