The state center for renewable energies Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ( Leea ) in Neustrelitz was opened on 23 September 2012 after the foundation stone was laid in March 2011. It is under the motto: "Renewable energies: experience - understand - participate". The Leea is intended to bundle campaigns and further develop the overall topic of renewable energies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . This gives climate protection and the energy transition a nationwide platform. With its concept and content, the state center promotes science and research, education and training at the same time.

Exhibitions and attractions

In the publicly accessible area there is, among other things, the permanent exhibition Resource Chamber Earth (170 m², since 2015), a school laboratory (since 2014) and an XXL Carrera track and in the outdoor area the adventure playground Energie-Kraft-Werk (since 2015). The permanent exhibition Resource Chamber Earth is divided into the thematic areas: Müritz-Ötzi , forest, water, sun, geothermal energy, wind and biomass and deals with questions such as: Can the earth provide us humans with the energy we need for life? and How can our energy supply function in itself and especially through renewable energies?

The Leea is a project by Stadtwerke Neustrelitz GmbH in partnership with the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania; Friends of Leea e. V., ministries of the state, associations and companies in the field of renewable energies.

Cost, Financing and Operation

The Leea cost around 3.4 million euros.

Financing is provided by the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and EU structural funds ( European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) ) as well as by the participation of Stadtwerke Neustrelitz GmbH. The operation is supported by the acquisition of third-party funds by the Förderverein Leea e. V. ensured. The German Federal Environment Foundation (DBU) is an important source of funding .
