The Landgraf-Leuchtenberg-Gymnasium Grafenau is a science , technology , language and economics high school in Grafenau, Lower Bavaria, founded in September 1965 .
history
The grammar school was founded as a municipal upper secondary school in the Grafenau district in 1965 and nationalized in 1967. Two years later, in 1969, they moved into the new school building in the school center on Schwaimberg.
In 1971 it was decided to expand into a full-fledged grammar school and in 1973/1974 the modern language branch with English , French and Latin was introduced. In this school year, the first graduate school year was also dismissed.
In the 1973/74 school year, the Bavarian school trial of a cooperative comprehensive school began . Since the Hauptschule and Realschule in Grafenau were built in close proximity, it was possible to change pupils and teachers quickly between the lessons. This attempt ended after 20 years on July 31, 1993.
A few months later, on November 12, 1993, the grammar school was given its current name after Johann I. Landgrave von Leuchtenberg , who obtained Grafenau's town elevation through his efforts in 1376 . Five years later, in 1998, the founding director Gert Kratzer retired. He handed over his office to the rector Wilhelm Hundsrucker, who went into provisional retirement with effect from March 1, 2007. Temporarily, his deputy Alois Schmid took over the management of the school. On August 1, 2007, Günther Kratzer was appointed to succeed Wilhelm Hundsrucker. He was deputy headmaster of this school until February 1999 and then changed from 1999 to 2007 to the post of headmaster of the high school in Zwiesel. Alois Schmid retired in the 2009/10 school year. His successor as deputy headmistress was Josefa Stamm.
Since 2001, the school building has been in a large-scale renovation phase, including a dining room to accommodate the increased all-day schooling due to the G 8 .
