Landing Kinteh

Landing Kinteh (* in Banjul ) is a Gambian lawyer. From 2017 to 2018 he was Inspector General of Police ( English Inspector General of Police , IGP).

Life

Kinteh joined the police force in 1982, was promoted to corporal in 1984 and cadet officer in 1988. Kinteh completed his bachelor's degree in law from the University of Usman Dan Fodio in Nigeria from 1993 to 1999 and a master's degree in human rights and criminal law from the University of Essex in the UK from 2004 to 2005 . He then worked as a lawyer and attorney at the Supreme Court of The Gambia . Since 2007 Landing Kinteh officer was (law enforcement english Commissioner of Prosecutions ) in the Gambia Police Force . He was sent to Darfur in Sudan for the United Nations . As director of the Department of National Agency against Trafficking ( English National Agency Against Anti-Trafficking in Persons , NAATIP) Ministry of Justice he was active early-2013.

Kinteh was appointed Inspector General of the Police on June 22, 2017, succeeding Yankuba Sonko .

Following the events of June 18, 2018 in Faraba Banta , in which demonstrators were killed by police gunshots, Landing asked Kinteh to resign on June 21, 2018.

In August 2019 he was appointed ambassador to Turkey as successor to Kemesseng Jammeh .
