The Landsberger Renette , or Landsberger for short , is an old apple variety . It comes from Landsberg an der Warthe , where it was raised by Justizrat Burchardt around 1850 as a seedling from Harberts Renette .

The Landsberger Renette is a strong-growing tree that makes beautiful tall trunks. Yields start early, the variety is rich in bearing. Landsberger Renette makes no special demands on the floor and is particularly suitable for cool locations. However, wet and nutrient-poor locations favor the development of fruit tree cancer . The variety is susceptible to apple powdery mildew in warm, dry locations .

Landsberger Renette apples are medium to large in size. Their fine, smooth skin is initially yellow-green, later pale yellow to straw yellow with very small brownish dots and only gently reddened on the sunny side. The firm flesh is yellowish-white and juicy. Landsberger Renette has a pleasant, "sweet winey" taste, but does not have an intense aroma. It is ripe from November and lasts until the end of January.
