Landscape maintenance associations are non-profit associations providing service to promote landscape maintenance , whose board members are made up of representatives from local politics, agriculture and nature conservation . Statutory goals of a landscape maintenance association are z. B. the preservation of the diverse species-rich cultural landscape , the support of the local farmers through the acquisition of subsidies, the strengthening of regional economic cycles. Landscape conservation associations also aim to make nature tangible for the population through environmental education programs . They organize and coordinate upcoming nature conservation measures, get cost estimates, apply for funding and check that maintenance measures are properly carried out on site.

The idea of ​​the landscape conservation associations was born in Bavaria in 1986 . The first landscape conservation associations were founded in Middle Franconia and Lower Bavaria (Kelheim). The umbrella organization of the German landscape management associations is the German Association for Landscape Management e. V. (DVL) based in Ansbach .
