Hassley Nature Reserve

The Hassley landscape protection area with an area of 181.71  hectares is located in the area of the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The landscape protection area was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen.

description

The LSG borders directly on the B 7 in the north. North of the B 7 is the Barmerfeld nature reserve . In the northwest, the reserve borders directly on the Ochsenkamp nature reserve . In the south it goes as far as the L 693. To the south of the L 693 lies the Egge conservation area . The Temporary Mastberg nature reserve borders in the northeast and the Mastberg and Weißenstein nature reserve borders in the east . The village of Haßley lies like an island in the LSG, which does not belong to the LSG.

The northern part of the LSG is the Donnerkuhle quarry of the Rheinkalk company, which is still being dismantled . The areas that do not belong to the quarry are mostly fields and grassland. Smaller forest areas with partly old hardwood also belong to the LSG.

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation took place “because of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the landscape, in particular by securing and renaturing the quarry and embankment areas and because of its special importance as a recreational area close to the city for the Emst and Haßley area”.
