The main tree species is the pine, but humid oak-birch forests and alder forests also occur. According to the landscape plan, the poplar stands should be replaced by deciduous trees that are appropriate to the location. There comes grassland as well as wet meadows and riparian perennials. The polluted willows in the LSG are to be pruned in sections every 5–10 years. The development of heather areas should be promoted in forest clearings. When the landscape plan comes into force, existing arable land should be converted into grassland. The land used for agriculture and forestry in the Strotheaue must be managed without the use of biocides and without fertilization. There are rare animal and plant species in the LSG.
