In the depression, a eutrophic shallow lake has formed that slowly silts up.

Flora and fauna

The landscape protection area is characterized by reeds , Großseggenrieder as well as locally by vibrating lawns and alder forest as well as in the north by a narrow remnant of forest sedge and alder forest. Due to its location in the immediate vicinity of the Dollart, the area is also of great importance as a breeding and resting area for birds.

Protection purpose

The main purpose of protection is to protect against changes “that are likely to damage nature, impair the enjoyment of nature or deface the landscape”.
