The landscape protection area on the outskirts of Werpe with 102.01  hectares is located in the urban area of Schmallenberg . The area was in 2008 by the council of Hochsauerlandkreises with the landscape plan Schmallenberg Northwest as a conservation area designated (LSG). The LSG is one of 71 landscape protection areas of type B, outskirts, landscape character in the urban area of ​​Schmallenberg. In the urban area, there are also two type A landscape protection areas (general landscape protection) and 58 type C landscape protection areas (meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland) with different requirements.

The LSG consists of two sub-areas north and south of Werpe . These are the open land areas with grassland and fields. To the east, the landscape protection area on the outskirts of Werpe (Schmallenberg Southeast landscape plan) is directly connected .

Protection purpose

The designation was carried out to ensure the diversity and uniqueness of the landscape in the vicinity of the localities and the old agricultural priority areas by keeping it open.

Legal regulations
