The landscape protection area Plettenberg, Herscheid, Neuenrade with 8890 hectares is located in the Märkisches Kreis in the area of the cities of Plettenberg , Herscheid and Neuenrade . It was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) in 1985 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan No. 1 Herscheid, Neuenrade . The LSG goes to the edge of the settlement.

The LSG covers large areas that are outside of the built-up area and other protected areas with stricter requirements. In the LSG there are mainly forest areas, grassland and fields. The forests mostly have spruce or beech trees.
Protection purpose
The designation was carried out to maintain, develop or restore the efficiency and functionality of the natural balance or the regenerative and sustainable usability of natural assets, including the protection of habitats and habitats. Legal regulations
In the LSG, among other things, the erection of buildings is prohibited. Furthermore, first afforestation and the new planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures outside the forest are prohibited. The conversion of forest is also prohibited.
