The Landslaboratorium Aruba is the public health laboratory (PHL for Public Health Laboratory) on the island of Aruba with its headquarters in the capital, Oranjestad .

The public health laboratory contributes to preventive and curative health care for the population and is ISO 15189 certified (medical laboratories). The standard includes medical technicians, clinical biologists and pathologists.

Services

The PHL works according to the Dutch CCKL laboratory guidelines and consists of three main departments:

  • Department of Clinical Chemistry and Hematology
  • Department of Microbiology and Infection Serology
  • Department of Pathology

The microbiology and infection serology departments are located in the listed building at the headquarters. The department for clinical chemistry and hematology and parts of the pathology are located in the Dr. Horacio E. Oduber Hospitaal and maintain a 24-hour service for outpatients, for the hospital and other outpatient services.

Branches

In the second largest city of Aruba, in San Nicolas , there is a branch of the rural laboratory Department of Clinical Chemistry and Hematology. There, in the outpatient service, blood samples are taken, collected and then transferred to the main laboratory in Oranjestad for examination.

Another branch is in Santa Cruz , but it only takes blood samples.
