Landsteiner is a small impact crater in the Mare Imbrium . Immediately to the south rises a low ridge called Dorsum Grabau . Beyond this ridge, further to the south, lies the striking crater Timocharis . The Dorsum Higazy extends west of Timocharis .
Landsteiner is circular and bowl-shaped. It shows no significant traces of erosion.
Before it was given its current name by the IAU in 1976 , Landsteiner was known as 'Timocharis F'.
