The Landsverk L-10 was a light Swedish tank from the 1930s.

history

The light tank was designed by the German engineer Joseph Vollmer in the early 1930s . Vollmer had previously designed the first German tank ( A7V ) and at that time was co-owner of the Deutsche Automobil-Construktionsgesellschaft (DAC). Vehicles and engines were designed by this company until 1936 and then sold as a complete factory drawing to motor vehicle and engine factories against payment of a license. Since the manufacture of tanks was forbidden in the German Reich due to the provisions laid down in the Versailles Peace Treaty , this had to be done in secret or abroad. For this reason, Gutehoffnungshütte , based in Oberhausen, acquired AB Landsverk in Landskrona . In 1930 this commissioned the DAC with the development of tanks.

In parallel to the L-10, the Landsverk L-30 wheel / chain armored vehicle was developed, with which it had a lot in common. The L-10 had a welded hull and sloping front armor plates and radio equipment. The Swedish Armed Forces ordered three copies at the end of 1931, which were not delivered until the end of 1935. These were given the army designation Stridsvagn m / 31 (Strv m / 31). Since it did not meet expectations, no reorders were made and it was replaced after a few years.
