The Agricultural Coordination Office ( LAKO ) is a service point in the areas of agricultural education and advice in rural areas. LAKO, based in St. Pölten , is part of the Schools Department at the Lower Austrian State Government .

Field of activity

The central area of ​​activity is the practical implementation of specialist knowledge and new findings in the agricultural school and adult education sector, especially with the 18 agricultural technical schools and two vocational schools in Lower Austria. Concrete work focuses include the organization of seminars and specialist events, the organization of the LAKO creative award, the housekeeping cup, forest work competitions and the implementation of trade fair appearances. The education journal is published twice a year and the provision of educational offers on the Internet is becoming increasingly important. As an information hub in the field of knowledge, LAKO works intensively with international educational institutions such as EUROPEA , the network of agricultural educational institutions in Europe ( Association of Agricultural Education in Europe ).

Other important partner organizations are LandImpulse Niederösterreich , LandImpulse Austria in the area of ​​agricultural funding processing and further training; the University of Agricultural and Environmental Education , the Lower Austria University of Education and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences are further educational partners; as well as the Lower Austria Chamber of Agriculture and the Ministry of Life. The technical schools are also present at the Tulln State Garden Show with a model garden and an event program . In the social field there is a special commitment to the Concordia social project by Father Georg Sporschill and to Auro-Danubia, where orphans in Romania are supported.

Agricultural education

The LAKO employees are teachers at the agricultural technical schools in Lower Austria. As a future workshop for contemporary know-how, LAKO organizes educational offers for pupils and teachers. Brochures, films and teaching materials on specialist topics will also be published. As an information hub in the knowledge sector, LAKO works with international educational institutions. European school partnerships are supported and school exchange projects are carried out. An additional task is the processing of EU funding in the agricultural education sector.
